Renewed appeal as Southampton Common murder investigation continues |
||
|
Yesterday (Thursday 8 October), marked one year since the discovery of the body of Ernest Konrad Deputat, 45. Ernest was found by a member of the public in woodland on Southampton Common on Wednesday 8 October. His body was found north of Ornamental Lake and there was also evidence of a fire. Ernest was a Polish national, who was living off-grid and known to the homeless community in the city. Following the discovery of his body, a murder investigation was immediately launched, and continues. As part of that investigation, two men, aged 30 and 34, were subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder. They were released on conditional police bail, which has been extended until Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 November. On the ongoing investigation, Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Matt Gillooly, said: "First and foremost, our thoughts remain firmly with Ernest's family, who continue to be supported by specialist officers. "Our focus remains on achieving justice for them and ensuring they have the answers they deserve. "To help us achieve that, we continue to appeal for information concerning the circumstances surrounding Ernest's death and the lead up to it. "No matter how small you feel the information may be, it could prove pivotal to our investigation. "Specifically, we would still like to hear from anyone who recognises this woman. (images in the below link) "We know from CCTV footage that she was walking her dog on Southampton Common on the morning of Saturday 6 September and may have witnessed something which is important to the investigation. "If you are the person in the image, or you know who she is, please make contact with us at the earliest opportunity. "Additionally, we would also like to hear from anyone who recalls at any point seeing another man in dispute with Ernest, whether verbal or physical, possibly in connection with a running disagreement." If you believe you can help with the above, or have any other information which could assist us, please call 101 and quote incident number 44250456238.
